5 Steps To Use Facebook Groups To Get More Clients

Facebook groups are a great way to converse with like-minded people and gain prospective clients. If you are not using Facebook groups, you are definitely missing out.

FB groups are a very easy way to leverage someone else’s community. There are groups for practically anything you can think of and Facebook really pushes them because of the sense of community they provide. And let’s face it, it’s not a bad thing for us because it’s really good for business, and a sure-fire way get leads if done properly.

1. Pick 3-5 ideal groups

Make sure that the Facebook groups you choose are made up of your target market. Read the description first and if it lines up with what you offer, you know you can provide assistance, and if you ARE allowed to post, I say join the group. You don’t want to be in a lot of groups that have nothing to do with what you are offering. For example I am not going to be in a group that is for car lovers and then promote my VA services (farfetched but you get the picture).  Ask yourself: would my ideal client hang out here?

This isn’t to say that you can’t be in other groups you enjoy, but for the sake of getting clients, stick to a few groups!

2. Make sure that the group is engaged and people are participating

Sometimes you can scan through a group before you join it and see that there are only a few people commenting or liking. You don’t want to be in groups that have very low engagement because likely no one is going to engage with you once you start posting. Try to find groups that have a high engagement level.

3. Introduce yourself

Pay attention to how people are communicating and the types of conversation people in the group are having before you start posting. Get a vibe of how things run first, then if you’d like, introduce yourself. This is just an introduction, so we want to see more about who you are, rather than just what you do.  Post a picture of yourself, fun facts about you, how you got to this point; basically anything that will help someone get to know you.

4. Promote in the right way

So you are ready to start posting. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT just post about your service and then provide a link. Most groups do not take kindly to this and this just isn’t a good way to put yourself out there. This isn’t about you, it’s about the person reading your post and their needs, always remember that! Instead tell them how you can help them or solve their problem and then provide a CTA. A call-to-action is just a way to tell someone reading what to do next.

For example:

Let’s say I’m an Image Consultant (which I used to be by the way.) I’d say something like this:

What if I told you I could declutter your closet, help you pick out exactly what to wear, and make you look and feel more confident. Would you want to talk?

Let’s break that down

In the first sentence, I told them what I could do for them and what the end result would be

In the second, I gave a call-to-action, telling them to respond if they wanted this kind of help

Here’s one more:

Let’s say I’m a Fitness/Nutrition Coach

What if I could help you feel confident, lose weight, and jumpstart your healthy life in 30 days. Would you like to chat? Comment “ME” for a spot on my calendar.

In the first sentence, I told them what they could accomplish, keeping the focus on them.

In the second sentence, I prompted them to comment “ME” for a chance to talk

You get it now!

5. Engage and engage some more

Here’s a BIG DISCLAIMER: If you just create promotional type posts all the time, you will not get consistent clients. People only buy from those they like, know, and trust. Post engaging questions, stories, ideas, tips, and advice on a consistent basis so that you start positioning yourself as an expert in your field. Take some time out of your day to answer questions and network with others in the group. Getting to know others and providing value is a crucial step in building a reputable brand.

You are on your way to gaining more clients with Facebook!
